Jeffersons Arcadia

An AR installation developed in collaboration with Jonas Olbrich. Visitors are introduced to Pioneer Ernest Jefferson, an explorer who has discovered a planet habitable for humans but won't live to see it populated. The task falls to the audience: using a set of printed, laminated cards placed freely on a surface, they design the infrastructure of a new world, arranging energy sources, housing, agriculture, and logistics into a functioning city.

The AR system reads the placement of the cards in real time, visualising the buildings and their relationships to one another. Move a card and the city responds. Shown at Ernst Busch Berlin.
